Joint Meeting with Darien GC

The November meeting of the New Canaan Garden Club was a joint meeting with the Darien Garden Club. Members of both clubs gathered at Waveny House and were thoroughly entertained and educated by renown floral designer Ariella Chezar, author of Seasonal Flower Arranging and The Flower Workshop.

This project began this past summer (2019) with the addition of environmentally friendly goats “hired” to eat a large area overrun with invasives. Jane Gamber wins Newport in Bloom Award

A wealth of CONGRATULATIONS to NCGC member and former president Jane Gamber for her multiple wins at the Newport Flower Show in June! Jane’s fabulous succulent birdbath was awarded the Newport in Bloom Award (most exceptional entry in the Outdoor Container classes) and the National Garden Club Award in Horticulture (finest in the horticulture division). We are so proud of Jane and her impressive talents!    

NCGC Joins Pollinator Pathway

New Canaan Garden Club is one of ten New Canaan organizations that have pledged to become part of the Pollinator Pathway, a pesticide-free corridor of public and private properties that provide native pollinator-friendly plant habitats and food sources for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinating insects and wildlife.     Continue Reading →

Ken Druse Lecture on “The New Shade Garden”

The New Canaan Garden Club and the New Canaan Beautification League held a joint program for their members at the New Canaan Library with celebrated lecturer, environmentalist, award-winning author and photographer, Ken Druse. Ken spoke to the group on his new book: “The New Shade Garden: Creating a Lush Oasis in the Age of Climate Change”, focusing in on the challenges that have arisen due to our changing climate. Ken has been called the “guru of natural gardening”.
